Culpeper District Traffic Alerts: Week of Feb. 3-7

The following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

Albemarle County

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Roadside maintenance in both directions between mile marker 107 and mile marker 130. Be alert for workers on the right shoulder Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Litter pickup operations in the median between mile marker 114 and mile marker 118. Be alert for workers on the left shoulder Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Utility work under VDOT permit at mile marker 110. Traffic slowed down in both directions while contractor runs overhead utility line across I-64. Expect brief delays Sunday between 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Shoulder maintenance on entrance ramp to I-64 west from Route 631 (Old Lynchburg Road). Left shoulder closed Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

(NEW) Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Tree trimming operations from Route 250 (Richmond Road) to the Louisa County line. Expect mobile, alternating lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Sidewalk work between Zan Road and Branchlands Boulevard. Obey traffic controls Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Bridge maintenance over Rivanna River, north of Lewis and Clark Drive. Expect alternating lane closures between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. weekdays.

(NEW) Route 29/250 Bypass – Soil boring as part of preliminary engineering work for Albemarle Design-Build Bundle. Be alert for workers on both shoulders of the northbound exit ramp to Fontaine Avenue, on the shoulders in both directions near the I-64 interchange and the entrance ramp to eastbound I-64. Work is scheduled on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) – Debris removal operations between Route 729 (Milton Road) and Route 795 (James Monroe Parkway). Expect mobile, alternating lane closures Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

(NEW) Route 231 (Gordonsville Road) – Tree trimming operations from Route 22 (Louisa Road) to the Orange County line. Expect mobile, alternating lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

(UPDATE) Route 250 (Ivy Road) – Tree trimming operations from Route 797 (Hillsboro Lane) and Route 752 (Mechums Depot Road). Expect mobile, alternating lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 250 (Richmond Road) – Tree trimming operations from Route 729 (Milton Road) to the Fluvanna County line. Expect mobile, alternating lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

(NEW) Route 604 (Buffalo River Road) – Inspection of bridge over the Rivanna River. Expect alternating lane closures Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(NEW) Route 643 (Polo Grounds Road) – Road work under VDOT permit. Expect traffic shifts and intermittent flagging operations during daytime hours.

(NEW) Route 654 (Barracks Road) – Line painting operations between Route 656 (Georgetown Road) and Route 601 (Old Garth Road). Expect alternating lane closures Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(NEW) Route 742 (Avon Street Extended) – Inspection of bridge over Moores Creek. Expect alternating lane closures Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(NEW) Route 743 (Hydraulic Road) – Sidewalk work between Swanson Drive and Route 1411 (Inglewood Drive). Obey traffic controls Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(NEW) Route 743 (Hydraulic Road) – Updating westbound traffic pattern at Route 29. Westbound Route 743 closed to all traffic between Hillsdale Drive and Route 29 from 9 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday. Be alert for new traffic pattern. Obey signs and pavement markings.

(NEW) Route 1417 (Woodbrook Drive) – Sidewalk work between Route 29 and Route 1403 (Berkmar Drive). Obey traffic controls Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(NEW) Route 1438 (Hilton Heights Road) – Sidewalk work between Route 29 and Route 1403 (Berkmar Drive). Obey traffic controls Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Culpeper County

Business Route 15 (Remington Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Rappahannock River at the Fauquier County line. Road closed to through traffic with posted detour. Anticipated completion Oct. 2020.

(NEW) Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Inspection of bridge over Rapidan River at the Orange County line. Expect alternating lane closures Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fauquier County 

(NEW) Interstate 66 – Roadside maintenance in both directions between mile marker 14 and mile marker 29. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes during daytime hours.

Business Route 15 (Remington Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Rappahannock River at the Culpeper County line. Road closed to through traffic with posted detour. Anticipated completion Oct. 2020.

Route 15/17/29 (Eastern Bypass) – Construction of grade-separated interchange near Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Road):

  • Expect intermittent nighttime lane closures
  • Expect intermittent daytime lane closures on Business Route 15/17/29
  • Contractor will maintain 11-foot travel lanes with barrier in place in both directions.

Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Road) – Shoulder closures and intermittent flagging operations near Route 15/17/29 (Eastern Bypass) for Warrenton Southern Interchange project. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Greene County 

(NEW) Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) – Ditch cleaning operations between the Rockingham County line and Route 625 (Goose Pond Road). One westbound lane closed. Follow traffic controls Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Louisa County 

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Roadside maintenance in both directions between mile marker 132 and mile marker 147. Right shoulder closed Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Orange County 

(NEW) Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Inspection of bridge over Rapidan River at the Culpeper County line. Expect alternating lane closures Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rappahannock County 

Route 522 (Sperryville Pike) – Bridge maintenance over Blackwater Creek north of Route 604 (Round Hill Road) and south of Scrabble. Expect alternating lane closures between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays.
