A single-vehicle crash on Friday night in Appomattox County killed one man who was ejected from his vehicle.

Samuel H. Robinson, 82, of Appomattox, died at the scene.

Virginia State Police is investigating the fatal crash that occurred July 19 at 5:10 p.m. on Red House Road.

A 2003 Chevrolet Express Van was heading northbound on Red House Road, a half-mile north of Cub Creek Road, when the vehicle crossed the center line, overcorrected, went off the right side of the road and struck an embankment, according to VSP.

The van then overturned, and the driver, Robinson, was ejected.

Robinson was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
