Construction to begin on new RMH Funkhouser Women’s Center

Construction on the new 15,200-square-foot RMH Funkhouser Women’s Center is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 29.

Visitors are asked to be aware of increased construction and pedestrian traffic on the corner of Pleasant Run Drive and Health Campus Drive near the Hahn Building on the RMH Health Campus.

“Safety is our top priority when we do any construction,” said Dennis Coffman, director of Facilities Planning and Development. “Be cautious of trucks and people around the worksite. We will have several signs announcing that construction is underway.”

Partners Excavating Company will begin sitework Tuesday. Lantz Construction Company has been awarded the contract to build the center. Blauch Brothers has been chosen for the center’s mechanical work and Mid Valley Electric Inc. for the electrical work.

The new center will house women’s imaging, including advanced breast imaging/mammography and bone density screening; RMH Breast Care and the office of Dr. Heidi Rafferty; the Image Recovery Center; RMH Heart Check (for both men and women), and more, said Teresa Boshart Yoder, director of Women’s Services for RMH.

“We are excited that construction has begun on the Women’s Center new home,” Yoder said. “This center will allow us to achieve an even higher level of care and service to our patients.”

The RMH Funkhouser Women’s Center is scheduled to open in mid-to-late summer 2013.
