CIT announces FY2015 solicitation for Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund

cit fundsThe Center for Innovative Technology announced the Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund Request for Proposals for FY2015. Award announcements are planned for early June 2015.

Governor McAuliffe and the General Assembly appropriated $2.8 million to the CRCF for FY2015 for programs targeting Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities, the private sector, nonprofit research institutions, and political subdivisions. Six programs are being offered during this solicitation: Commercialization, Eminent Researcher Recruitment, Facilities Enhancement Loan, Matching Funds, SBIR Matching Funds, and STTR Matching Funds.

Awards from the CRCF further the goals and industry opportunities set forth the in the Commonwealth Research and Technology (R&T) Strategic Roadmap. Eligible technology sectors for all programs this round include advanced manufacturing, communications, cyber security, energy, modeling and simulation, information technology and life sciences; for certain industries, work must be in specific subsectors.

CIT issued two solicitations in FY2014 resulting in $4.2 million invested in 52 projects across the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth’s investment was used to leverage approximately $7.4 million in additional matching funds. To date, the Fund has awarded nearly $13 million in 139 active and completed projects.
