lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesChris Tillman gave up a leadoff single in the first, but that was it on a dominating night on the mound, as the Baltimore righty retired the final 23 batters that he faced in a 3-0 win over the Detroit Tigers Saturday.

Ian Kinsler led off the Tigers first with a single, and Victor Martinez worked a one-out walk, but after Tillman (7-7, 4.96 ERA) worked out of that jam, he shut the Detroit offense down completely, retiring the side in order for the next seven innings.

Tillman put in eight innings on the night, allowing the hit and walk while striking out eight, throwing 105 pitches, 70 for strikes.

Manny Machado hit a solo homer in the third, his 20th of the season, and that was it for the O’s until the ninth, when a Caleb Joseph two-run single gave Baltimore some breathing room.

Zach Britton pitched a 1-2-3 ninth with a pair of punchouts to register his 24th save.

David Price (9-3, 2.32 ERA) took the loss for Detroit, giving up a run on six hits, striking out 12 and walking one.
