Charlottesville woman killed in Interstate 64 crash

interstate 64A Charlottesville woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 64 near Charlottesville on Monday.

At 5:25 p.m., Monday (July 4), Virginia State Police Trooper S.M. Gregory responded to a fatal crash in Albemarle County. The single-vehicle crash occurred at the 117 mile marker on Interstate 64.

A 2002 Jeep Liberty was traveling east on I-64 when it ran off the left side of the road and into the median. The Jeep then overturned and came to rest in the westbound lanes of I-64.

The driver, Patricia Y. Eraz-Marquez, 33, of Charlottesville, Va., was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She died at the scene.
