The Charlottesville Reading Series and the Virginia Quarterly Review will host a poetry and prose reading on Friday, June 24 from 7-8:30 p.m. at The Bridge PAI (209 Monticello Road).
The event will feature in-person readings by Bronwen Dickey and Joshua Poteat and is free to attend. Complimentary refreshments will be available at intermission.
Bronwen Dickey is a contributing editor at the Oxford American and the author of Pit Bull: The Battle over an American Icon. Her writing has also appeared in the New York Times, the Virginia Quarterly Review, Newsweek, Outside, Popular Mechanics, Best American Travel Writing 2009, Slate, and the Independent Weekly, among many other publications.
In 2009, she received a first-place Lowell Thomas Award in travel journalism and a residency grant from the MacDowell Colony. She lives in North Carolina. For more details, visit www.bronwendickey.com.
Joshua Poteat is an American poet. His first book, Ornithologies, won the 2004 Anhinga Poetry Prize, and his chapbook, Meditations, won the Poetry Society of America’s 2004 National Chapbook Award. He has received awards from American Literary Review, Columbia: A Journal of Literature and the Arts, Nebraska Review, and River City.

Founded by Julia Kudravetz and Amie Whittemore in 2014, the Charlottesville Reading Series presents in-person readings of poetry and prose in a monthly event for community members in Charlottesville.
