Charlottesville cooling centers open beginning Monday for duration heat wave

CharlottesvilleThe City of Charlottesville will designate Herman Key Recreation Center, Tonsler Recreation Center, and the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library (Central Branch) as cooling centers from Monday, June 15th through Sunday, June 21st for those affected by the extreme high temperatures expected to continue in the area next week.

Carver Recreation Center is located at 233 4th St. NW in the Jefferson School City Center adjacent to the upper parking deck on 4th St. NW. The hours of operation are 6am-9pm Monday through Thursday; 6am-8pm Friday; 8am-6pmSaturday; 12pm-6pm Sunday.

Tonsler Recreation Center is located at 501 Cherry Avenue. The hours of operation are 2pm-9pm Monday through Friday; 1pm-6pm Saturday; ClosedSunday.

New Location
Jefferson-Madison Regional Library (Central Branch) is located at 201 E. Market Street. The hours of operation are 9am-9pm Monday through Thursday;9am-5pm Friday and Saturday; 1pm-5pm Sunday.
