Change in polling place for Stuarts Draft voters

constitutionThe Augusta County Electoral Board has begun mailing notices and new voter cards to voters in the Stuarts Draft Rescue precinct announcing the change of polling place from the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad to the gym at Ridgeview Christian School.

The precinct is renamed Ridgeview. The Board of Supervisors approved the new location on February 11.

With over 3,400 registered voters, the Ridgeview precinct is the second largest in the county. The Electoral Board has been concerned about the size of the room and lack of adequate parking at the Rescue Squad for a couple years. The new polling place offers ample paved parking, excellent accessibility, and a large room for voting.

The voter cards provide information about the polling place and legislative districts — a valid photo ID is required to vote.

The change is effective immediately, including the upcoming Special Election for Clerk of the Circuit Court ordered for March 31, 2015.

The Writ of Special Election is posted at the Augusta County Voter Registration website.
