CDSMP Workshop Concluded in Highland

Contributors

CCG Grant Winners photoThe second Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop (CDSMP) for Highland County ended on August 22, with seven completers.

Members of the group plan to continue to meet regularly to support one another, and also plan to invite individuals from the group that completed this workshop earlier this summer. This was a diverse group, including a couple of young teenagers, a young lady preparing to enter college and hoping to manage her stress and health better in that circumstance through skills learned in CDSMP, a woman who was a member of the first group and wanted to continue the progress she had made, and an individual attempting to manage her diabetes through self-care and avoid the need for insulin.

A fairly uncommon condition – the aftermath of Lyme Disease – was shared by two of this group’s participants. The ladies proudly shared accomplishments they’ve made at the closing of Session 6 – significant weight loss, the ability to be in control rather than having the condition control the person, the ability to speak up to medical providers in an appropriate way and more.
