Busy Days at Staunton Senior Center

AFP

ssc-headerTuesday, Oct. 1 was quite the busy day at Staunton Senior Center when 16 members, staff, and volunteers took advantage of the flu shot clinic offered by CVS, while 12 people received blood pressures checks.

Two of the seven visiting UVa nursing students led exercise, while the program director coordinated the screenings and saw to it that members got off to senior Bingo. The students aided in a myriad of other ways at the Center, teaming up with two seniors after lunch for a mad Scrabble challenge, winning the hearts of all involved of course!

Wednesday, Oct. 2 saw 25 members, staff, and volunteers traveling to the JMU Convocation Center for the annual Senior Prom, with the theme being safari. Dressed as safari guides and various animals, all had a glorious time dancing the time away and feasting on yummy sandwiches and cookies. Although no one from the group won a door prize or received best costume or dancing award, everyone agreed that this yearly outing is a must!
