Malcolm Brogdon had 34 points and 14 assists, but it wasn’t enough for Indiana in a 124-115 loss to Miami Saturday in the 2020 NBA playoffs.

The loss leaves the Pacers in a 3-0 hole to the Heat in the first-round series.

Brogdon, a 2016 UVA alum, was 11-for-17 shooting from the floor, 4-of-7 from three, in the defeat.

Jimmy Butler led Miami, the four seed in the East, with 27 points.

Indiana cut an 18-point halftime deficit to four, 94-90, at the end of three, and a Brogdon three with 2:21 to go got the Pacers to within two, at 114-112, but an 8-0 Miami run pushed the series to the brink.

Brogdon is averaging 24.3 points and 11.0 assists per game in the series.

Game 4 is scheduled for Monday.
