blue ridge parkwayWould you like to work for the National Park Service to help protect one of America’s most special landscapes? The Blue Ridge Parkway is seeking qualified candidates to help maintain America’s Favorite Drive. Designed to provide a rural driving experience connecting Shenandoah National Park to Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the Parkway provides the opportunity to take a leisurely drive along some of the most scenic and beautiful countryside in the United States. It also provides a means to get to hiking trails, overlooks, streams and historic sites that provide meaningful connections to over 10 million visitors each year.

To protect and preserve this special place requires an exceptional group of dedicated individuals working together to keep the Parkway maintained and running smoothly. Every year, the Parkway hires a group of full-time temporary employees to assist with maintenance during the busiest seasons (May through September).  These individuals perform a variety of duties including mowing, string trimming, tree clearing and custodial services.

The Parkway is seeking qualified maintenance workers at the Peaks of Otter (Bedford), James River (Big Island) and Montebello (Vesuvius) areas. If you are interested in these or other positions on the Parkway please visit www.usajobs.gov. To see jobs available on the Blue Ridge Parkway please click “Advanced”, immediately under the Search key. Then utilize the drop down menus to search for your specific areas of interest. Under the “Agency” drop-down select “Department of Interior” and then “National Park Service”, to view all of the jobs available in the area specified.
