Blogcast w/Chris Graham: A marathon, and a sprint

Chris Graham

Summer is a slower pace for me at Augusta Free Press, but with college sports getting going again next week, the marathon begins.

And for me, it will be starting a little sooner than I’ve been used to. Next week, I add ESPN+ soccer announcer to my resume, with my debut calling men’s and women’s soccer games at VMI.

I’ve got three games next week, and a total of six on the schedule over the first three weeks of the season.

Add that to VMI and UVA football games on nine of the 11 Saturdays beginning Sept. 1 – VMI football involving me doing play-by-play for the radio broadcasts of games, for the fourth season; UVA football is just me sitting in a press box, live-blogging during the game, doing a Facebook Live recap and then postgame interviews afterward.

Then the college basketball season tips off Nov. 6, taking us all the way into at least mid-March. At which point I pick back up doing ESPN3 broadcasts for VMI baseball. Last year, we did a schedule of 12 games into mid-May.

This on top of everything else we do at AFP – the news side, the web and marketing that we do for clients in the Valley.

Woo, boy. Things are about to get fun.
