Betts powers Red Sox past O’s, 6-2

baltimore oriolesBoston right fielder Mookie Betts hit three homers to push the Red Sox to a 6-2 win over Baltimore on Tuesday.

The reeling Orioles (28-22) have lost six of eight and are now three games behind Boston (32-20) in the American League East.

Kevin Gausman (0-3, 3.78 ERA) was touched up for five runs on five hits in six innings of work.

Betts took Gausman deep twice, in the first and second, then connected off reliever Dylan Bundy in the seventh.

Betts drove in five runs on the night.

Dustin Pedroia also homered for the Red Sox.

 

Orioles Notes

  • Adam Jones was 2-for-4 in the leadoff spot. Jones is hitting .333 (6-for-18) since being moved to leadoff on Friday.
  • Dylan Bundy gave up a run on five hits in two innings of relief. The rookie has given up 30 hits in 21 innings, with 10 strikeouts, eight walks and a 1.81 WHIP.
