The Ben Salem Wayside along westbound Route 60 (East Midland Trail) in Rockbridge County is scheduled to be closed during the week of March 23 for the removal of hazard trees.

The closure will begin Monday, March 23 at 7 a.m. and last until Friday, March 27 at 4:30 p.m. There will be no public access to the wayside during the week. Traffic along Route 60 is not expected to be affected by this closure.

Hazard trees are trees that contain a structural defect that makes falling likely. These trees can be deficient as result of fire damage, disease, and age. When these trees fall they pose a serious risk to public safety.
