Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, confirmed on Instagram on Thursday that he will star in a movie version of the popular 1990s TV series Baywatch.
“Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach,” Johnson wrote, accompanying a photo featuring him on a water ski, and hashtags #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth and #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha.
No filming schedule or release date has been attached to the movie project, which will be headed up by director Sean Anders and producer John Morris, whose Horrible Bosses 2 is due out on Thanksgiving.
No word, either, on any role that Baywatch TV series star David Hasselhoff may have in the project. Hasselhoff, beloved by Germans, among others, has not commented on the news about the movie.
