These are good days to be affiliated with Delaware basketball. Earlier in the week, the Blue Hens knocked off Virginia of the ACC on the Cavs’ home court to earn a trip to Madison Square Garden for the Preseason NIT semifinals.
Barnett Harris, a 6’9″ forward from Monroeville, Pa., was all smiles Wednesday talking about his decision to sign with Delaware to continue his basketball career.
“I considered myself a part of the Blue Hen family when I committed about a month ago. Now I just made it official. It’s a little less weight on my shoulders. Now I can just focus on preparing myself for Delaware,” Harris said.
His father, Barnett Sr., thought back to when his son first took up basketball as a third-grader.
“It’s been a long process,” Harris Sr. said. “He enjoys basketball. As an ex-player, I know the doors it can open in life. So I just want him to experience that, much more than I ever experienced it. I’m very happy for him.”
