lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesMiguel Gonzalez struggled early for Baltimore, and a two-run Mitch Moreland homer in the eighth provided Texas with some important insurance in an 8-6 Rangers win Tuesday at Camden Yards.

Gonzalez (6-5, 4.04 ERA) gave up six runs on eight hits in four and a third innings, chased in the fifth after homers by Robinson Chirinos and Shin-Soo Choo. But a Manny Machado solo shot in the bottom of the fifth brought the O’s back to within 6-5, and it would stay that way until the eighth, when Moreland, who homered twice in the Rangers’ 8-1 win on Monday, went deep on reliever Chaz Roe to extend the lead to 8-5.

The Orioles (41-36, tied for first/AL East) got one run back in the ninth, when J.J. Hardy walked with two outs, took second on defensive indifference, then scored on an RBI single by Travis Snider, bringing Ryan Flaherty to the plate as the potential tying run.

Shaun Tolleson struck out Flaherty looking to lock down his 11th save.
