Chris Davis set the tone Sunday with a first-inning grand slam, and Baltimore slugged all day long in a 12-5 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.
The win completed a four-game sweep for the first-place O’s (45-30).
UVA alum Tyler Wilson (4-5, 4.50 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) was the beneficiary of the offensive largesse, getting the win despite giving up five runs on 10 hits in five innings of work.
The Orioles bullpen did a nice job on its end, putting in four scoreless innings, and allowing just two Rays hits.
Tampa Bay (31-43) has now lost 11 straight.
Davis (.240/.355/.498, 18 HR, 50 RBI) hit one of three Orioles’ homers on the day. Jonathan Schoop (.292/.322/.502, 13 HR, 43 RBI) and Mark Trumbo (.279/.330/.554, 22 HR, 55 RBI) also went deep.
Manny Machado (.325/.384/.609, 18 HR, 44 RBI) was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI for Baltimore, which had 17 hits on the day.
