Baltimore comes up short against Colon, Mets, 3-2

lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesAn RBI single by Daniel Murphy and a two-run double by Kevin Plawecki keyed a three-run New York fourth that Mets starter Bartolo Colon made stand up in a 3-2 win over Baltimore on Tuesday.

The O’s didn’t get on the board until the eighth, on a solo homer by Manny Machado, his fifth of the season. A Chris Davis solo shot, his sixth on the year, leading off the ninth got the Orioles to within a run, but Mets closer Jeurys Familia was able to retire the final three Baltimore hitters in order to close the game out.

Colon (5-1) gave up a run on six hits in seven and two-thirds innings, striking out nine without walking a batter.

Baltimore starter Bud Norris (1-3) gave up three runs on seven hits in seven innings of work, striking out four and walking one.
