Houston got to Baltimore ace Chris Tillman early in what turned into a 12-2 rout of the Orioles on Saturday.
Tillman (15-5, 3.76 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) was tagged for six runs on six hits in two-plus innings, not recording a strikeout and walking five. Yeah, ouch – six outs, 11 baserunners.
The O’s (67-55), who have lost five of their last seven, couldn’t get anything going against Houston starter Mike Fiers (9-6, 4.48 ERA, 1.33 WHIP), who limited Baltimore to a run on five hits in seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Chris Davis hit his 29th homer of the season, a solo shot, in the fourth, for Baltimore, which is now two and a half games back of Toronto (70-53) in the AL East.
