Snow is forecast to fall throughout the region during the night. Travel is not advised during the snowstorm, which may bring 3 to 5 inches to the area.
Weather conditions can deteriorate rapidly with forecasted heavy snow fall, possibly at an inch per hour in the northern part of the Shenandoah Valley later tonight. Snowfall at this rate can quickly create hazardous driving and road conditions.
Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton District crews have completed the brine application to roads. VDOT crews will plow and treat roads as the storm begins.
For winter weather road conditions go to www.511Virginia.org, look at the orange bar on the top of the page and click on “Text Views” and then click on “Road Condition Table”. Look at the pull down box that lists all jurisdictions. In this box individual counties can be chosen to view.
