A Mount Solon woman died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash in western Augusta County late Wednesday.

According to Virginia State Police, Martha N. Root, 41, of Mount Solon, was traveling south on Stribling Springs Road at 11:30 p.m. when her Chevrolet Suburban ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and tree, and overturned.

Root, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, and died at the scene, according to VSP.

Speed is being investigated as a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
