The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a search for a missing woman in the Newport/Middlebrook area of Augusta County.
The search for Leslie Pritchard Turner, 56, of 5978 Middlebrook Road, has been ongoing since 6 p.m. Wednesday and is continuing throughout the day. Four search-and-rescue dog teams are assisting the search teams with the search being concentrated between Middlebrook Road and Newport Road.
Turner was last seen on Saturday, Aug. 29. Her disappearance was reported to Augusta County on Wednesday, at which time her rental car was discovered in the search area.
Turner is reported to be in good shape and an avid hiker.
As far as is known to this stage of the investigation, she has no family in the area.
