Augusta County: Portion of Route 865 closing for road work Nov. 7-22

road work transportationA portion of Route 865 (Rockfish Road) in Augusta County is scheduled to close from Monday, November 7, to Tuesday, November 22, for a bridge project.

This work is located between Route 612 (New Hope-Crimora Road) and Route 617 (Round Hill School Road). Virginia Department of Transportation crews will close the bridge and replace it with a box culvert. All work is weather permitting

Residents who live along the affected portion of Route 865 will be able to access homes on either side of the work zone. Through traffic will be directed to use one of the following detours:

  • Drivers approaching from the south will detour west on Route 612, north on Route 782 (Barnhart Road) and east on Route 617 back to Route 865.
  • Drivers approaching from the north will detour west on Route 617, south on Route 782 and east on Route 612 back to Route 865.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.

Traffic alerts and traveler information can be obtained by dialing 511. Traffic alerts and traveler information also are available at 511Virginia.org. For other assistance call the VDOT Customer Service Center, available 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week. Citizens can dial 1-800-FOR- ROAD (1-800-367-7623) from anywhere in the state to report road hazards, ask transportation questions, or get information related to Virginia’s roads.
