Attorney General Mark Herring announces office ethics policy

AFP

attorney general Mark R. Herring announced a new ethics policy that will be applied to employees of the Office of Attorney General, including the attorney general himself.  The policy will conform closely to the executive order signed today by Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

mark herringThe policy prohibits employees of the Office of attorney general from soliciting anything of value or accepting any gift over $100 in value, with common sense exceptions like gifts from family members and personal friends.

“Virginians deserve to know their public officials are serving them with the highest levels of integrity and without undue influence,” Herring said. “Our gift ban explicitly puts in place a high standard for the first time, so the public trust can be restored in the Office of Attorney General, as well as among state employees covered under the Governor’s order.”
