Armed robbery at Waynesboro convenience store late Monday

waynesboroTwo adult males and one juvenile male were arrested in connection to a robbery that occurred Monday night at a Waynesboro convenience store.

Officers responded to Kings Market located at 80 King Ave. at approximately 10:45 P.M. Monday for an armed robbery that had just occurred

Dispatch information relayed that two male suspects had entered the store wearing bandannas over their faces with what appeared to be handguns in their waistbands. Demanding cash, the suspects obtained an unknown amount of money then fled the store heading north towards Ivy Street.

As officers arrived at the scene, other units converged on the neighborhoods north of Ivy Street, and as further descriptions of the suspects were broadcast one of those units observed two individuals matching the description running through a yard in the 100 block of Henry Avenue.

These subjects were detained near the basement of a residence on Henry Avenue and soon a third suspect was located at the residence, along with numerous items of evidence including two BB guns and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Subsequent investigation led to the below charges against the following suspects in the case.

  • Darius Taquan James, 19, of Staunton – Robbery
  • Juvenile Male, 16, of Waynesboro – Robbery
  • Jesse Elan Brand, 18, of Waynesboro – Principal in the 2nd Degree to Robbery

Charges are also pending for a 15-year-old juvenile male of Waynesboro who was not detained last night.
