Arlington County Police have made an arrest in a domestic-related homicide in the Ballston-Virginia Square neighborhood that took place on Sunday morning.

Logan Chrisinger, 27, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony in the shooting death of his mother.

Chrisinger is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.

According to police, a 911 caller, at 8:28 a.m. on Sunday, told the dispatcher that his mother had shot herself in a bedroom in his apartment in the 3400 block of Fairfax Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female, identified as Travis Renee Baldwin, 57, of Winchester, inside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers administered lifesaving measures before medics transported her to a local hospital.

Baldwin was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The preliminary investigation indicates Chrisinger fatally shot his mother inside the residence.

Chrisinger remained on scene when police arrived.

This remains an active investigation, and detectives continue to investigate the circumstances that preceded the shooting. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Arlington County Police Department Tip Line at 703-228-4180 or [email protected].
