A teen from El Paso, Texas, has been charged with failure to yield the right of way in a crash in Amherst County that took the life of a Madison Heights woman last week.
Deion I. Taliaferro, 91, of Madison Heights, was taken to an area hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries sustained in the June 19 crash on Route 130 at the intersection with the Route 29 bypass exit ramp in Amherst County.
According to Virginia State Police, Taliaferro, driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue, was heading eastbound on Route 130 when her vehicle was struck by a 2024 Lexus RX driven by Abdulaziz H. Elmawri, 17, of El Paso, Texas, that failed to yield at a stop sign.
The Rogue then went off of the left side of the expressway and into a treeline.
Elmawri was not injured.
