Alberto Del Rio return highlights WWE Hell in a Cell

Chris Graham

del rioThe highlight of a good WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view at a sold-out Staples Center in Los Angeles was the return of four-time world champion Alberto Del Rio, who was the surprise opponent for U.S. champ John Cena in the show’s opening match.

Cena, who is reported to be headed to a two-month break to film a new TV series, lost the U.S. championship to Del Rio in a clean fall.

In the main event, Brock Lesnar defeated Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match with his F5 finisher. After the match, cameras lingered on ‘Taker in the ring as fans showered him with chants of “Thank you, ‘Taker,” but the scene was interrupted by Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family, who attacked Undertaker and carried him to the back as the credits rolled.

Wyatt had earlier in the night lost a classic Hell in a Cell match to Roman Reigns in what was easily the best match of the night.

Seth Rollins retained the WWE title in a match with Kane, with the stipulation that Kane now loses his job as Director of Operations for The Authority. Charlotte retained her Divas title in a solid match with former champ Nikki Bella.

Kevin Owens defeated Ryback to retain the Intercontinental title in a short match, and The New Day defeated the Dudley Boyz to hold on to the WWE tag-team titles.
