Albemarle County: Woman struck, killed after getting out of vehicle in Scottsville

A 93-year-old Albemarle County woman was struck and killed after getting out of a vehicle at Scottsville Center on Sunday.

Albemarle County Police have identified the victim in the 1:26 p.m. Sunday accident as Noreen C. Wilbourn, 93, of Esmont.

Wilbourn was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

According to police, Wilbourn arrived as a passenger in the vehicle that struck her. While backing out of a parking space, the driver of the vehicle reversed and struck Wilbourn with the passenger side front door, knocking her to the ground.

The crash remains under investigation.
