Albemarle County tax bill payment deadline extended to Thursday, Dec. 6

Contributors

albemarle countyThe Albemarle County personal property and real estate taxes payment deadline has been extended by one day, to Thursday, Dec. 6.

The extension is due to the US Postal Service’ closure in observance of the national day of mourning for President George HW Bush on Dec. 5.

All payments, regardless of payment method, will be accepted through Dec. 6 without penalty.

To avoid incurring a late payment penalty (10% or $10, whichever is greater), payments must be either:

  • Paid online at www.albemarlecountytaxes.org/taxes or by telephone at 1-866-820-5450 by 11:59 pm ET on Dec. 6
  • Postmarked by Dec. 6
  • Paid at the 24/7 Automated Payment kiosk by 11:59 pm ET on Dec. 6, or
  • Delivered in person to the Finance Office by 5:00 pm on Dec. 6

The late payment penalty is effective the following day (Dec. 7). Interest at a rate of 10% per annum also begins to accrue the following month.

If you have any questions or have not received your Personal Property or Real Estate tax bill(s), or if you have a vehicle, trailer, boat or airplane located in Albemarle County that is not listed on your bill, please contact the Finance Department at (434) 296-5851 option 3 or [email protected] before Thursday, Dec. 6.
