Albemarle County authorities are investigating the cause of a “suspicious” fire at Vocelli Pizza on Seminole Trail early Sunday morning that caused $30,000 in damage to the building.

The call to 911 was logged at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, and when units from Albemarle County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, they found fire in the front of the building and two trash cans burning on the sidewalk.

There were no injuries reported resulting from the fire or its suppression.

The cause of the fire appears suspicious in nature and the investigation is being led by the Albemarle County Fire Marshals Office.

Anyone who was in the area around 1:45 a.m. or has more information should call the fire marshal’s office at (434) 296-5833.
