Albemarle County FY 2021 budget process update

AFP

Albemarle County Executive Jeff Richardson provided a revised budget schedule at today’s work session of the Board of Supervisors that delays adoption of the FY 2021 budget until May 14.

The schedule does not change the scheduled public hearing on the tax rate and FY 2021 budget. By the April 13 public hearing, Albemarle County will have a plan for the public to be able to participate in that public hearing without having to come to Lane Auditorium in person – though there is a plan to accommodate that as well.

Delaying adoption of the final budget allows the Board of Supervisors to plan additional work sessions and engagement opportunities to ensure a thorough and open process.

During the work sessions and community engagement to date, the Board of Supervisors identified areas for further exploration in the FY 21 Budget Development. In the intervening weeks, staff will continue to refine these items.

The Board of Supervisors can receive comments anytime through email ([email protected]) or by mail (401 McIntire Road, 2nd Floor, Charlottesville, VA 22902).

Submit written remarks through those means.
