Albemarle County family of six displaced from home after fire early Tuesday morning

A fire originating from a laundry room Tuesday morning has displaced an Albemarle County family of six.

At 7:48 a.m., Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block of Birchwood Drive.

Heavy smoke was found at the single-family residence when firefighters arrived at approximately 8 a.m.

All of the residents safely evacuated from the home, and there were no injuries, according to ACFR.

The family is being assisted by relatives at this time.

The root cause of the accidental fire is being investigated by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office.
