An electrical fire at Kohr Brothers Frozen Custard on Richmond Road in Albemarle County has temporarily closed the ice cream eatery.

The fire was reported at 1 p.m. Saturday. Albemarle County Fire Rescue reported smoke coming from the attic at the structure and a nearby mulch fire.

Responding crews were able to extinguish the fires by 1:21 pm.

The building was occupied by two staff members at the time of the fire. The employees were able to safely self-evacuate. There were no injuries reported.

The fire appears to have started in the attic and appears to be electrical in nature. The incident is currently under investigation by the ACFR Fire Marshal’s Office.

Kohr Brothers will be temporarily closed due to the fire.
