AFP sponsors Gateway Talent Night Competition

gatewayWTA’s Gateway Open Mic Talent Night Competition will have its third round on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.  The prize for the winner will be a $50 prize and a chance to participate in the final competition for a paid-performance at WTA’s Gateway and a professionally produced video.

Host Lorie Strother, the Dreaded Blues Lady welcomes a full range of talents for the competition: musical, comedy, poetry, magic, etc. “Our first group of competitors was a strong field.  I look forward to another exiting round.” said Strother.

Each act will have 10 minutes on the Gateway stage.  The audience will vote for their favorite performer or performing group.  A cash prize will be given to the winner and an invitation to return for the final round in June 2013.  The winner of the final round will be given the opportunity to appear as a featured performer at one of WTA’s Gateway signature performances and a professional prepared video for posting on a website or YouTube.

The Open Mic Talent Night prize is sponsored by the Augusta Free Press.

“We know that Central Virginia has a host of talents who can amaze an audience.  The Augusta Free Press is privileged to the sponsor of this night at the Gateway,” said Chris Graham, publisher.  “It a natural way to give a chance to some of the lesser known performers in the area.”

The Open Mic Talent Night is free although donations are gratefully accepted.  The performance begins at 7 pm at WTA’s Gateway at 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro.
