AFP assists Waynesboro Police Foundation on fundraising project

police foundationAugusta Free Press is working with the Waynesboro Police Foundation on a project to raise money to help a family return the remains of their murdered daughter home.

Karen Tait was murdered in 2002 by her husband, Thomas Tait, but it took 11 years before Thomas Tait would plead guilty to the crime, after a lengthy investigation headed up by the Waynesboro Police Department.

Karen Tait was a native of the Philippines, and her family has sought help in obtaining the money needed to return her remains home for proper burial.

The Waynesboro Police Foundation is conducting a fund drive to assist the family of Karen Tait in that effort.

Augusta Free Press donated time to refurbish the WPF’s website, www.WaynesboroPoliceFoundation.com, to highlight the story of Karen Tait and set up an online donation feature on the site to make it easy for online donors to help out.
