The ongoing investigation into the discovery of a dead newborn has led to additional charges against a Lynchburg man.

Mialke Kevin Stewart, 38, of Lynchburg, had already been charged with concealment of a dead body and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon in the case, which involves a juvenile female who apparently gave birth on Feb. 27.

Stewart is now facing additional charges for rape, rape under the age of 13, forcible sodomy and object sexual penetration in the case.

The juvenile female, who has not been named by Lynchburg Police, arrived at Lynchburg General Hospital in need of medical attention. It was determined that she had recently given birth at a residence.

Officers responded to the home and located evidence of the birth but were initially unable to locate the child.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and conducted a thorough search of the residence, ultimately locating the deceased newborn.

Stewart is being held without bond in the Blue Regional Jail.
