ACC Football | What happens if we end up with three teams with 8-0 conference records?

An astute reader pointed out to me that ACC Football could end up with three teams with 8-0 conference records at the end of the 2025 regular season, in the form of Miami, Georgia Tech and Virginia.

Because only two of those can meet in Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game, you know, huh, what?

The tiebreaker scenario, spelled out on the ACC Football website, would end up going all the way down to subpoint E, which tells us:

Combined win-percentage of conference opponents.

Here would be what to watch for there:

Miami

  • Florida State
  • Louisville
  • Stanford
  • Syracuse
  • NC State
  • Virginia Tech
  • Pitt

Georgia Tech

  • Clemson
  • Wake Forest
  • Virginia Tech
  • Duke
  • Syracuse
  • NC State
  • Boston College
  • Pitt

Virginia

  • Stanford
  • Florida State
  • Louisville
  • North Carolina
  • Cal
  • Wake Forest
  • Duke
  • Virginia Tech

I’m not even going to hazard a guess at this stage who would have the advantage if things end up with each of the three at 8-0.

And, no, before you try to ask, the NC State game wouldn’t count against Virginia, because it was a nonconference game.
