ACC Football | UVA’s Cam Ross repeat player of the week honoree in Week 2

The ACC Football Players of the Week for Week 2 are in, and UVA Football wideout Cam Ross is back as a repeat winner.

Honorees were selected by a vote of a select media panel.

QB: Dylan Lonergan, R-So., QB, Boston College (Snellville, Ga.)


  • Completed 34-of-45 pass attempts for 390 yards in Boston College’s double-overtime game against Michigan State.
  • Recorded four touchdown passes for the Eagles.
  • His 34 completions were the most by a Boston College quarterback since 2020.
  • First Boston College quarterback since 2018 to record eight touchdown passes and zero interceptions through the first two games of the season.

Tailback: Demond Claiborne, Sr., RB, Wake Forest (Aylett, Va.)


  • Ran for 193 yards and three touchdowns in Wake Forest’s 42-10 win over Western Carolina.
  • Became the first FBS player to run for 190 or more yards and at least three rushing touchdowns in a game this season.
  • Eclipsed 100 all-purpose yards for the 14th time in the last 22 games.
  • Logged an 85-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter – the longest by a Demon Deacon since 2019.
  • Averaged 19.3 yards per carry in the win, ranking third in Wake Forest single-game history.

Wideout: Duce Robinson, Jr., WR, Florida State (Phoenix)


  • Posted a career-high 173 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Florida State’s rout of East Texas A&M.
  • Marked his first career multi-touchdown game.
  • Hauled in an 82-yard touchdown reception – the longest by a Seminole since 2019.
  • Recorded 160 of his 173 receiving yards in the first quarter, setting a school record.

O-line: Adrian Medley, R-Sr., RG, Florida State (Pensacola, Fla.)


  • Was the highest-graded offensive lineman in Florida State’s 77-3 win over East Texas A&M.
  • Responsible for four blocks that led to a first down or touchdown.
  • The Seminoles’ offense set a school record with 10.27 yards per play.
  • Paved the way for 368 passing yards and 361 rushing yards – the Seminoles’ first 350-350 game since 1995.
  • Florida State scored touchdowns on 11 of its 12 possessions, including all seven in the first half with Medley on the field.

D-line: Vincent Anthony Jr., Sr., DE, Duke (Durham, N.C.)


  • Logged a career-high 3.0 sacks against then-No. 11 Illinois.
  • Recorded a pair of stops within Illinois’ first 10 offensive plays.
  • His sack total is tied for the most in Duke history against a ranked opponent.
  • Has recorded sacks in back-to-back games and in three of his last four appearances.
  • He leads all FBS players with 4.0 sacks through Week 2.

LB: TJ Quinn, Sr., LB, Louisville (Valdosta, Ga.)


  • Recorded a season-high 11 tackles in Louisville’s win over James Madison.
  • Five of his 11 tackles were solo stops.
  • Anchored the Cardinals’ defense which allowed just 263 yards of offense.
  • Added 1.0 of Louisville’s 6.0 sacks on the night.

DB: Omar Thornton, So., DB, Boston College (Carver Ranches, Fla.)


  • Logged a career-high 11 tackles in Boston College’s road game at Michigan State.
  • Recorded his first career sack against the Spartans.
  • Additionally, forced a fumble for the Eagles.

Special Teams: Cam Ross, Gr., WR, Virginia (Newark, Del.)


  • Repeats as ACC Specialist of the Week after winning both Receiver and Specialist of the Week in Week 1.
  • Logged 81 punt return yards, including a 48-yard return in the second quarter.
  • Added five receptions for 40 yards, finishing with 140 all-purpose yards.
  • Leads the ACC and ranks third nationally with 182.0 all-purpose yards per game.

Rookie: Aaron Philo, R-Fr., QB, Georgia Tech (Bogart, Ga.)


  • Led Georgia Tech to a 59-12 win over Gardner-Webb while making his first career start.
  • Completed 21-of-28 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns.
  • His 373 passing yards rank sixth in Georgia Tech single-game history.
  • Threw for the most yards by a Yellow Jacket in 24 years.
  • Led Georgia Tech to 680 yards of total offense, ranking third in school history.
