A week after holding Virginia to 205 total yards and seven points in a blowout win in Tallahassee, Florida State surrendered 537 yards – 397 on the ground – to Louisville in a 44-20 loss on Friday night.
Guess how many sacks the FSU defense had?
One.
Last week: 10.
The ‘Noles (3-3, 1-2 ACC) led 14-0 early, but it was all Cardinals (3-3, 2-2 ACC) thereafter.
Louisville QB Lincoln Kienholz only needed to throw the ball 15 times – he finished 11-of-15 for 140 yards.
Tailback Isaac Brown went for 235 yards on the ground with two TDs, one a 97-yarder for the Cards’ first score of the night, the one that got the game to 14-7.
FSU QB Ashton Daniels, who was 12-of-19 for 183 yards through the air, and had 168 sack-adjusted yards and five (!) TDs on the ground in FSU’s 38-7 win over UVA last week, was 21-of-37 passing for 209 yards, two TDs and an INT, with 53 sack-adjusted rushing yards and a TD on the ground tonight.
The Florida State D giving up 500-plus total yards is more like it from that group – tonight was the third time in six games this season that the ‘Noles gave up 500 or more to an opponent.
Virginia, to emphasize here, was only able to get 205 yards against this group.
