Abram and Moore lead George Mason past Wagner, 71-60

george-mason2Two players recorded double-doubles as George Mason wrapped up non-conference play with a 71-60 victory over Wagner and posted a 2-0 record for this homestand. For the second straight game, freshman DeAndre Abram set a new career-high, pouring in 27 points and snagged his first career double-double with 10 rebounds.

GAME NOTES
-It was a tight first half as the largest lead by either team was eight points by Wagner with 10:19 to play.

-With Mason trailing by eight, freshman DeAndre Abram erupted hitting three consecutive treys to return the lead back to Mason, 19-18 with 8:01 left in the first half.

-The teams would trade the lead back-and-forth over the coming minutes before Marquise Moore scored four unanswered for a 29-26 Mason lead with less than two minutes left in the half.

-Fouled with 2.1 seconds on the clock, Danny Dixon would give Mason a 30-29 halftime lead hitting the front end of a pair of free throws.

-Abram led Mason at the half with 15 points shooting 4-of-8 from the floor and 4-for-6 at the charity stripe.
-The score was tied three times in the first three minutes of the second half before Otis Livingston II hit Mason’s fourth triple of the contest to give Mason a 39-36 advantage with 16:18 on the clock.

-The Seahawks responded with a 6-0 run to gain a 42-39 lead with just over 14 minutes to play.

-In a game of runs, Mason responded with a 21-5 run over the next 9:40 to take a 13-point lead, 60-47.

-Wagner would cut the score to 10 points, but that would be the closest the Seahawks would come as Mason pushed its lead out to 16 points.
-The last time two Mason players recorded double-doubles in the same contest dates back to February 9, 2013 when Jonathan Arledge and Erik Copes posted double-doubles at home against Delaware.

STAT BREAKDOWN
-Mason shot 43.5 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent (24-36) from the charity stripe.
-Marquise Moore posted his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds, marking his first career double-double. Moore was 10-for-12 at the charity stripe and also added five assists to his stat line.
-Otis Livingston II rounded out the trio of Patriots in double-figures with 11 points.
-Mason won the rebounding battle 45-30 led by Moore’s 11 boards.
-Wagner shot 36.1 percent from the field led by 21 points from Dwaun Anderson.

-Mason breaks for the Holidays and opens Atlantic 10 Conference play at VCU on January 2 at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on CBSSN.
