Georgia Tech (7-1, 5-1 ACC) took control in the second half with two backbreaking drives that broke open a close game and gave the Jackets a convincing 34-9 win over Virginia (3-4, 2-1 ACC) on Saturday in rain-soaked Charlottesville.

The loss dropped UVa. out of first place in the ACC Coastal.

Photographer Mark Miller captured the wet, wild day in pictures.

Jonathan Dwyer ran for 125 yards on 25 carries.

Demaryius Thomas pulls in a 52-yard first-half catch.

Anthony Allen ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

Josh Nesbitt throws a first-half pass.

Jameel Sewell completes a third-quarter red-zone pass to Vic Hall.

Kris Burd drops a fourth-quarter pass in the end zone.

Sewell runs for a UVa. first down.

Neal Kerby and Emily Miller are all smiles despite the heavy rain.

It was monsoon-like conditions for much of the game.

The word for the day: “wet.”
