The No. 8 Virginia baseball team continues its 10-game homestand at 3 p.m. Tuesday (March 1) when it faces William and Mary at Davenport Field.

It’s a $2 Tuesday at Davenport Field. Hot dogs and Pepsi soft drinks are available at every Tuesday home game for $2 apiece.

• Virginia is fielding at a .984 clip this year (four errors in seven games).
• UVA is the lone ACC team that is yet to allow a stolen base this year (one attempt).
• Ernie Clement is batting .519 (fourth in ACC).
• Clement and Adam Haseley each were 5-for-11 (.455) in the ECU series.
• UVA pitchers have struck out 74 batters – tied with Pitt for the ACC high (10.6/game).

 

Virginia-William and Mary Series

Virginia holds a 73-29-2 advantage in its series with William & Mary. The Cavaliers have captured nine straight meetings since the Tribe won 6-5 on April 23, 2008, in Charlottesville. UVA held off the Tribe, 3-2, last season on April 15 as Derek Casey, Alec Bettinger and Josh Sborz combined to scatter five hits.

 

Virginia Against In-State Foes

Since 2004, the Cavaliers have a 112-24-1 record against in-state foes. UVA was 7-6 last season against in-state opponents and opened its 2016 home schedule with an 18-1 win over VMI.

 

Noting William & Mary

William and Mary improved to 5-2 on the young season with a three-game series sweep of Holy Cross last weekend in Williamsburg. CAA Preseason Player of the Year Charley Gould leads the team with a .348 batting average. The senior was named a Preseason Third-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
