If you are looking to get into the world of video game streaming on Twitch, there are some tried and true rules that you are going to want to abide by.

These rules will not only help you gain a larger following on Twitch, they will also make sure that your enjoyment is as great as it can be!

Make sure your mic isn’t low quality

Okay, so you don’t need the most expensive mic on the market, but you are going to want to make sure that you are using something better than your laptop’s built in mic.

This will allow you communicate better with fellow players and those who follow you along on your stream.

This brings us to the next tip!

Get a webcam

Just like getting a mic so that you can communicate better with your fellow gamers and followers, you want to get a good webcam so that your followers can watch you play and react!

There are two ways to go about using a webcam. Either viewers see you in a square somewhere in your stream alongside the game stream, other streamers use a green screen so that your body and head floats in front of the gameplay (still in the corner). Either option is great, but you want to have both good image and audio quality to make your stream as professional as possible.

Make your page personal and unique

You want to find a way to get your page to stand out from the crowd. This is going to make success as a Twitch streamer far more likely.

Of course, you want to let your personality shine through, but you are also going to want to consider using bits of media like gifs or soundbites to announce messages, donation or other events is a great way to make your page stand out.

Blerp the search engine for sound bites is a great way to add fun sounds from popular movies and television shows to your Twitch page.

Interview your viewers and show them that you care

When you are streaming, it is good to be engaged and stay passionate about your game, but you also want to be able to multitask and hold conversations with your viewers.

The best way to gain a large and committed following is to build relationships with your fans. That will make them feel like the relationship truly goes both ways.

On top of that, if you are talking to someone, it is much more likely that others will stick around longer to either get the full story or get involved themselves.

Be consistent and persistent

If you are looking to gain lots of fans and followers, two of the most important things to keep in mind is to be consistent and persistent with your streams. Set up a schedule on your Twitch page (so that people know when to tune in) and STICK TO IT. There is nothing worse than setting up a schedule and missing a stream.
