storylogo2#3 seed Notre Dame led by 18 at the half, but the Irish had to rally from a brief second-half deficit to put away #6 Miami, 70-63, in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday in Greensboro.

Notre Dame (27-5, 15-4 ACC) shot 62.5 percent in the first half and led 43-25 at the break, but the Irish didn’t hit a shot from the field in the second half until the 8:02 mark. Miami (21-12, 11-9 ACC) took a 51-49 lead at the 6:30 mark on a pair of free throws by Sheldon McClellan, but a 12-3 Notre Dame run over the next 5:48 put the game away.

Steve Vasturia led Notre Dame with 16 points. Angel Rodriguez had 15 to lead Miami.

Notre Dame advances to the ACC Tournament semifinals on Friday and will face #2 seed Duke (29-3, 16-3 ACC). The tip is scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m.
