2016 Virginia Agritourism Conference set for April

agritourism conferenceThe 2016 Virginia Agritourism Conference will be held April 5 and 6 at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.

The conference theme will be “Agritourism in Virginia’s New Economy,” and presentations will address varied aspects of holding events, celebrations and other activities on working farms. Speaker topics will include agritourism planning, effective uses of social media, financing options, marketing and sales strategies, liability management and safety issues. Four farm tours are planned for the afternoon of April 5.

Registration is $95 for one day or $135 for both. Participants can register online atsignup4.net/Public/ap.aspx?EID=VIRG35E. The registration deadline is March 25.

Conference sponsors are the Bed & Breakfast Association of Virginia, the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, Farm Credit, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development agency, the Virginia Agribusiness Council, the Virginia Association of Counties, Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture Innovation and Rural Sustainability, Virginia State University and the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
