Saturday’s game between W&M and NSU will mark the fifth meeting between the two programs, as the Tribe has won all four of the previous matchups. The teams last played during the 2009 season when W&M earned a 27-15 victory in Norfolk. Prior to that, the squads played three contests in Williamsburg – 2008 (42-12), 1985 (28-15) and 1977 (27-13).

W&M is coming off a 42-14 victory at Hampton, as the Tribe piled up five rushing touchdowns and posted six sacks. Junior running back Mikal Abdul-Saboor led the College offensively and rushed for three touchdowns while totaling 107 rushing yards on 18 carries. Senior linebacker Airek Green came up big defensively and was honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week after totaling six tackles (five solo), four tackles for a loss, two sacks, a forced fumble and a blocked punt.

Norfolk State is off to a 0-2 start this season after losing to Maine (10-6) and Liberty (17-0). Although the Spartans are yet to score a touchdown, they rank eighth nationally in total defense (233.5) and 15th in scoring defense (13.5). NSU is led by senior linebacker Lynden Trail, a Buchanan Award Watch List selection, who has recorded two sacks and 4.5 tackles for a loss this season.
